The series follows the complex relationship of Marianne and Connell, who was born, repressed, in the high schools of a small Irish town in County Sligo and blossomed in her university years at Trinity College Dublin. In high school the two seem to be the opposite: he is popular and loved, she is lonely, proud, with an intimidating act. A first contact takes place when Connell picks up his mother, a cleaning lady, at Marianne’s house: from that moment on, a strong connection is established between them, but the two are determined to hide. The situation evolves the following year, when both college students at Trinity College seem to be reversing their roles: now Marianne feels comfortable while Connell is on the sidelines, shy and insecure.
